Machine-readable markup, usually JSON-LD following schema.org, that states explicitly what a page is about instead of leaving a crawler to infer it.
It only ever describes content that is visible on the page. Emitting an FAQ in markup whose answers are not in the HTML is a misrepresentation, not an optimisation.
