Stemming
Reducing words to a common root before matching them, so that a search for one form of a word also returns its morphological relatives.
It makes a search engine more useful to a reader and less precise for a pipeline: a query for `hiring` matches `hire`, which is correct by the engine's rule and wrong by the caller's. The remedy is an exact check after retrieval, on candidates the engine already returned.
